First Crew & Allottees' event of the year kicks off in Cebu

On March 29, 2025, Odfjell held its first crew and allottees event of the year at Cebu Parklane International Hotel. A total of 121 participants attended, including seafarers, allottees, and family members.

The day opened with safety briefings from Crew and Family Affairs Team Lead Olive De Vera, followed by remarks from Svend Foyn-Bruun, VP Maritime Personnel Section.

An awarding ceremony was held to recognize two long-serving colleagues: Pumpman Ermingaudio Madrona Jr. and Motorman Jose Glenn Visda, both honored for 25 years of service.

Participants then joined parallel workshops. All seafarers attended a session on safety led by Compliance Auditor Capt. Jerry Cadianza. Discussions were based on recurring safety observations recorded over the past year.

In a separate session, allottees and families took part in “Sailing Together,” facilitated by Marissa Rubin. The session addressed the emotional and practical aspects of supporting seafarers from shore.

Throughout the event, partner organizations were present via information booths. BDO, MHIBI, ShipMoney, HDMF, and Cebu Doctors Hospital – Center for Advanced Nutrition offered services, consultations, and printed materials. Participants engaged with representatives and accessed resources relevant to both sea- and shore-based concerns.

Afternoon sessions included updates from ShipMoney, a financial literacy talk on saving and investing, and a health-focused discussion on summer illness prevention by CebuDoc Group. These topics supported both financial awareness and personal well-being.

Guests were entertained with a performance by ATBP (Adan at Iba Pa), a band composed of Odfjell's very own cadets.

The event concluded with participant feedback and raffles, followed by closing remarks from Agnes Enesio, President and General Manager of Odfjell Philippines.

This first crew and allottees event of 2025 reinforced the importance of regular in-person engagement. Bringing seafarers and their families together remains essential to building understanding between ship and shore.
