Quality Manager Vinicius Madruga Santos receives prestigious Brazilian Navy award

Vinicius Madruga Santos, Quality Manager, DPA & CSO of Odfjell Flumar, has been awarded the Tamandaré Merit Medal, the highest honor conferred by the Brazilian Navy. The medal recognizes individuals and organizations that have significantly contributed to preserving and strengthening the Navy's traditions.

Created in 1957, the Tamandaré Merit Medal is awarded to civilian and military authorities, institutions, and individuals—both Brazilian and foreign—who demonstrate outstanding competence and precision in their work. Named after Admiral Joaquim Marques Lisboa, Admiral Tamandaré, the patron of the Brazilian Navy, the award symbolizes dedication to excellence and service.

The jury stated: “With over 30 years of extensive experience in chemical tanker operations, Vinicius has played a pivotal role in ensuring the highest standards of operational excellence, safety, and regulatory compliance.”

Joining Odfjell Flumar as Quality Manager in July 2009, he oversees quality systems and safety programs, coordinates crew training, and manages industry certifications. His credentials include a Class-1 Master Mariner certificate, a Postgraduate Diploma in Petroleum Engineeering from PUC Rio de Janeiro, and a Fellow of the Nautical Institute (FNI) recognition.

Vinicius accepted the medal at an official ceremony on December 4 at the Ipiranga Museum in São Paulo, Brazil.
