Odfjell's Øistein Jensen Speaks on Sustainability at WISTA's 50th Anniversary Event

On July 17, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) hosted a special event to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Women's International Shipping & Trading Association (WISTA). Representing Odfjell, Chief Sustainability Officer Øistein Jensen addressed the WISTA UK 50 Years Conference and Celebration, focusing on sustainability in the sector.

This milestone marks five decades of WISTA's commitment to empowering women in the maritime industry. WISTA's efforts have been pivotal in creating opportunities for women and increasing their representation within the maritime industry. The organization boasts many new and long-time members who actively contribute to its mission. 

Odfjell and WISTA have a long-standing partnership, collaborating on various initiatives to promote gender diversity and inclusion. WISTA's efforts have been pivotal in creating opportunities for women and increasing their representation within the maritime industry. The organization boasts many new and long-time members who actively contribute to its mission. 

As many Odfjell’ers, Jensen is a WISTA member himself, and he took the opportunity to highlight the importance of the organization's work. During the event, he met with key figures, including IMO Secretary-General Arsenio Dominguez, the WISTA UK team, and Guy Platten, Secretary-General of the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS). 

Øistein praised WISTA's role in fostering a supportive and inclusive environment, stating, "WISTA does a phenomenal job of bringing people together to support and empower women in our industry. If you’re not already a WISTA member, I highly encourage you to join.”
