First drydock successfully completed for the first Hudong vessel

Bow Orion wrote history when she was delivered to our fleet five years ago. As the then world's largest and most advanced chemical tanker series, the Hudong vessels were a welcomed addition to serve our customers worldwide. But even award-winning ships need maintenance, and Bow Orion has spent the past weeks high and dry in China. Check out the result.

Senior Technical Superintendent Tonny Muri summarizes:

"The first Hudong vessel, Bow Orion, is already five years old. She was therefore due for her first renewal survey by Class and needed to go for dry-docking for bottom surveys and maintenance.

The vessel arrived at Cosco Shipyard in Nantong, China on July 29. She went thru normal drydocking work and maintenance of her machineries, deck equipment, radio, lifesaving, and firefighting equipment.

We also did chiller room modification, navigation radars upgrades, Gyro compass upgrade, trailing edge modification of the propeller blades and modification of the vessels bridge wings.

A great thanks to the ship’s crew, officers and DD Team, led by Captain Perez for a well-done job. Also, a great thanks to Cosco Shipyard for a well-done job as well, delivered on time and on budget. The vessel departed Cosco Shipyard, Nantong on August 18 in mint condition, ready for another five years of service until next renewal survey in 2029."
