Bow Orion enters Odfjell's fleet

On August 26, the world's largest stainless steel chemical tanker was officially delivered to Odfjell. Two days later, she sets sail for her maiden voyage.

Bow Orion, the first of four new designed and new built chemical tankers, departed for Ulsan today where she will load her first cargo.

With 33 cargo tanks in duplex stainless steel, a cargo capacity of approximately 55,000 cubic meters, engines that run at 75 rpm and consume 14% less fuel compared to the older vessels in the fleet, the sophisticated supersegregators will be among the world’s most efficient and eco-friendly.

Since the naming ceremony on July 1, Bow Orion has undergone extensive sea trials and shipyard testing. Captain Randy Allen Cabaio welcomed a full 170 industry experts on board, all tasked to secure that the unique vessel fulfills the highest operational standards.

On August 26 at 18:30 local time in Shanghai, China, Bow Orion officially entered Odfjell’s fleet and is now underway to Ulsan to load her very first cargo. Safe sailing!
